1.2 relating to education; modifying the mission of the Minnesota math corps program;
1.3 appropriating money; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 124D.42,
1.4 subdivision 9.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 124D.42, subdivision 9, is amended to read:
1.7 Subd. 9.Minnesota math corps program.(a) A Minnesota math corps program is
1.8established to give provide ServeMinnesota AmeriCorps members with a data-based
1.9problem-solving model of mathematics instruction useful for to use in providing elementary
1.10and middle school students and their teachers with instructional support. Minnesota math
1.11corps must use evidence-based instructional support to evaluate and accelerate student
1.12learning on foundational mathematics skills that enable students to meet state academic
1.13standards in mathematics and long-term proficiency expectations for the workforce.
1.14 (b) The commission must submit a biennial report to the committees of the legislature
1.15with jurisdiction over kindergarten through grade 12 education that records and evaluates
1.16program data to determine the efficacy of the programs under this subdivision.
1.17 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective July 1, 2025.
1.18 Sec. 2. APPROPRIATION; MATH CORPS.
1.19 Subdivision 1.Department of Education.The sums indicated in this section are
1.20appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Education in the fiscal years
1.21designated.
