1.1 A bill for an act
1.2 relating to capital investment; appropriating money for capital improvements at
1.3 the Great Lakes Aquarium in the city of Duluth.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; GREAT LAKES AQUARIUM.
1.6 $1,058,200 in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
1.7of employment and economic development for a grant to the Lake Superior Center Authority
1.8to predesign, design, construct, and renovate improvements and betterments of a capital
1.9nature at the Great Lakes Aquarium. This appropriation includes money for major projects
1.10to preserve or replace mechanical, electrical, and water treatment systems; upgrades to
1.11utility systems; life-safety improvements; and exterior improvements to the facility's building
1.12envelope, parking, and grounds. This appropriation is onetime and is available until the
1.13project is completed or abandoned, subject to Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.642.
1.14 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
