1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to education; providing for a grant for literacy interventions; requiring a 1.3 report; appropriating money. 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; DYSLEXIA. 1.6 Subdivision 1.Department of Education.The sums indicated in this section are 1.7appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Education in the fiscal years 1.8designated. 1.9 Subd. 2.Dyslexia Institute of Minnesota.(a) For a grant to the Dyslexia Institute of 1.10Minnesota to provide free evidence-based literacy interventions to students who are reading 1.11below grade level and are enrolled in public schools where a majority of students are eligible 1.12for free or reduced-price meals: 2026.....450,0001.13 $ 2027.....450,0001.14 $ 1.15 (b) Grant funds must be used to support tutor training and compensation, curricular 1.16materials, program delivery, and program administration. 1.17 (c) The Dyslexia Institute of Minnesota must provide a detailed report to the chairs and 1.18ranking minority members of the legislative committees having jurisdiction over kindergarten 1.19through grade 12 education and higher education by January 15 of each year until 2028 1.20describing how grant funds were used, and progress made toward improving the literacy 1.21proficiency of participating students. 1.22 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective July 1, 2025. 1Section 1.
