1.1 A bill for an act
1.2 relating to arts and cultural heritage; appropriating money for community festival
1.3 grant program.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATIONS; COMMUNITY FESTIVAL GRANT PROGRAM.
1.6 $1,250,000 in fiscal year 2026 and $1,250,000 in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from
1.7the arts and cultural heritage fund to the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Humanities
1.8Center for grants to community-based organizations, cities, and counties to support cultural
1.9festivals and events throughout the state of Minnesota. The funding may support event
1.10programming, staffing, community outreach, transportation, facilities and equipment rentals,
1.11and signage. Up to $200,000 of this amount may be set aside for public safety expense
1.12reimbursement to county sheriff departments to support the festivals and events. The
1.13Minnesota Humanities Center must give priority funding to the Somali Museum Annual
1.14Celebration, Twin Cities Jazz Fest, Selby Avenue Jazz Fest, the Hmong Festival, Cinco de
1.15Mayo festival, and Rondo Days in St. Paul; the Hiddo Soor International Somali Cultural
1.16Festival in Plymouth; and Safe Summer Nights and Somali Independence Day in St. Paul.
