1.1 A bill for an act
1.2 relating to legacy; appropriating money to develop cultural studies materials for
1.3 underrepresented groups.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. UNDERREPRESENTED GROUPS CULTURAL STUDIES MATERIALS;
1.6APPROPRIATION.
1.7 $....... in fiscal year 2026 and $....... in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from the arts
1.8and cultural heritage fund to the commissioner of administration for competitive grants to
1.9develop high-quality academic cultural and ethnic studies materials for communities that
1.10do not have adequate cultural and ethnic studies materials or who are underrepresented in
1.11those materials, including but not limited to the Hmong, Karen, Somali, and Oromo cultures
1.12and cultures without a formal writing system that are largely oral-based. In developing these
1.13materials, a recipient of a grant under this section must work with school districts that intend
1.14to use the materials.
