1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to education; requiring health standards to include organ donation 1.3 education; amending Laws 2024, chapter 115, article 2, section 21, subdivision 2. 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.5 Section 1. Laws 2024, chapter 115, article 2, section 21, subdivision 2, is amended to 1.6read: 1.7 Subd. 2.Required health-related subject areas.The commissioner must include the 1.8following expectations for learning in the statewide standards: 1.9 (1) cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automatic external defibrillator education that 1.10allows districts to provide instruction to students in grades 7 through 12 in accordance with 1.11Minnesota Statutes, section 120B.236; 1.12 (2) vaping awareness and prevention education that allows districts to provide instruction 1.13to students in grades 6 through 8 in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section 120B.238, 1.14subdivision 3; 1.15 (3) cannabis use and substance use education that allows districts to provide instruction 1.16to students in grades 6 through 12 in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section 120B.215; 1.17 (4) sexually transmitted infections and diseases education that meets the requirements 1.18of Minnesota Statutes, section 121A.23; and 1.19 (5) mental health education for students in grades 4 through 12.; and 1.20 (6) organ donation education for students in grade 9. 1.21 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment. 1Section 1.
