                    1.1	A bill for an act​
1.2 relating to public safety; expanding the list of persons ineligible under the​
1.3 Minnesota Rehabilitation and Reinvestment Act; amending Minnesota Statutes​
1.4 2024, sections 244.45; 244.46, subdivision 4.​
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 244.45, is amended to read:​
1.7 244.45 INELIGIBILITY FOR EARNED INCENTIVE RELEASE CREDIT.​
1.8 The following individuals are ineligible for earned incentive release credit:​
1.9 (1) those serving life sentences;​
1.10 (2) those given indeterminate sentences for crimes committed on or before April 30,​
1.111980; or​
1.12 (3) those subject to good time under section 244.04 or similar laws.; or​
1.13 (4) those serving sentences for: a crime that resulted in the death of a person; first or​
1.14second degree criminal sexual conduct; a criminal sexual conduct crime involving a victim​
1.15under 16 years of age; a crime involving child pornography or child exploitation; any crime​
1.16of violence, as defined in section 624.712, in which the individual used or possessed a​
1.17dangerous weapon; or any crime that carried a mandatory minimum sentence.​
1.18 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.​
1.19 Sec. 2. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 244.46, subdivision 4, is amended to read:​
1.20 Subd. 4.Applicability.This section does not apply to individuals:​
