                    1.1	A bill for an act​
1.2 relating to education; modifying requirements for parental curriculum review and​
1.3 consent for sexual education curriculum; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024,​
1.4 section 120B.20.​
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 120B.20, is amended to read:​
1.7 120B.20 PARENTAL CURRICULUM REVIEW.​
1.8 Subdivision 1.General requirements.Each school district shall must have a procedure​
1.9for a parent, guardian, or an adult student, 18 years of age or older, to review the content​
1.10of the instructional materials to be provided to a minor child or to an adult student and,​
1.11including reviewing copies of all instructional or program materials, textbooks, printed​
1.12content, videos, prerecorded materials, and online resources upon request. If the a parent,​
1.13guardian, or adult student objects to the content, the procedure must include a process to​
1.14make reasonable arrangements with school personnel for alternative instruction. Alternative​
1.15instruction may be provided by the a parent, guardian, or adult student if the alternative​
1.16instruction, if any, offered by the school board does not meet the concerns of the a parent,​
1.17guardian, or adult student. The school board is not required to pay for the costs of alternative​
1.18instruction provided by a parent, guardian, or adult student. School personnel may not​
1.19impose an academic or other penalty upon a student merely for arranging alternative​
1.20instruction under this section. School personnel may evaluate and assess the quality of the​
1.21student's work.​
