1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to arts and cultural heritage; appropriating money for improvements to 1.3 the Capitol campus. 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; CAPITOL CAMPUS IMPROVEMENTS. 1.6 (a) $750,000 in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the arts and cultural heritage fund 1.7to the commissioner of administration for improvements to the Capitol campus as described 1.8in this section. This appropriation is available until the projects are completed or abandoned, 1.9subject to Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.642. 1.10 (b) $400,000 of the appropriation in paragraph (a) is for trees on the upper mall and the 1.11northern portion of the lower mall bordering Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. 1.12 (c) $200,000 of the appropriation in paragraph (a) is for benches on the upper mall and 1.13the northern portion of the lower mall bordering Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. 1.14 (d) $150,000 of the appropriation in paragraph (a) is for visual markers and welcome 1.15information for the Capitol campus, appropriately spaced for wayfinding of the major streets 1.16on the Capitol campus, anchoring a pathway to the State Capitol building and Capitol Mall 1.17that features interpretive markers honoring the importance and stature of the Capitol campus 1.18as both a historic site and as a modern, active public gathering place for all visitors. 1.19 (e) Upon substantial completion of a project authorized in paragraph (b), (c), or (d), and 1.20after written notice to the commissioner of management and budget, the commissioner of 1.21administration may use any money remaining from the project toward any other project in 1.22this section. 1Section 1.
