1.3 and Pacific Islander Heritage Month; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota

1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.6 Section 1. [120A.43] ASIAN AMERICAN AND PACIFIC ISLANDER HERITAGE
1.7MONTH.
1.8 A school district is encouraged to commemorate Asian American and Pacific Islander
1.9Heritage Month each May. In observance, a school district may provide instruction or
1.10conduct a school program to provide students opportunities to learn about the diverse cultures
1.11and traditions of the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, as well as the
1.12achievements and contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders to American
1.13history and culture. Among other activities under this section, a school district may partner
1.14with a community group to promote and encourage observance of the month.
