1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to public safety; appropriating money for teacher and school staff training 1.3 in dangerous situations in schools and to provide teachers and school staff with 1.4 firearms. 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.6 Section 1. TEACHER AND STAFF TRAINING; DANGEROUS SCHOOL 1.7SITUATIONS. 1.8 $....... in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of 1.9education for grants to school districts to provide firearm simulator training to prepare 1.10teachers, staff persons, and other designated persons employed in the school district to 1.11respond to dangerous situations in schools. 1.12 Sec. 2. SCHOOLS; FIREARMS. 1.13 $....... in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of 1.14education for grants to school districts to provide firearms with biometric gun locks to 1.15teachers, staff persons, and other designated persons employed in a district school that is a 1.16distance of at least three minutes from a law enforcement response to a dangerous situation 1.17at the school. A teacher, staff person, or other designated person who receives a firearm 1.18must have received firearm training. 1Sec. 2.
