1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to workforce development; appropriating money for Bridges to Healthcare. 1.3BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.4 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; BRIDGES TO HEALTHCARE. 1.5 $750,000 in fiscal year 2026 and $750,000 in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from the 1.6workforce development fund to the commissioner of employment and economic development 1.7for a grant to Bridges to Healthcare to provide career education, wraparound support services, 1.8and job skills training in high-demand health care fields to low-income parents, nonnative 1.9speakers of English, and other hard-to-train individuals, helping families build secure 1.10pathways out of poverty while also addressing worker shortages in one of Minnesota's most 1.11innovative industries. Grant proceeds may be used for program expenses, including but not 1.12limited to hiring instructors and navigators; space rental; and supportive services to help 1.13participants attend classes, including assistance with course fees, child care, transportation, 1.14and safe and stable housing. In addition, up to five percent of grant proceeds may be used 1.15for Bridges to Healthcare's administrative costs. 1Section 1.
