1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to public safety; criminalizing the castration or sterilization of minors; 1.3 imposing criminal penalties; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, 1.4 chapter 609. 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.6 Section 1. [609.2248] CASTRATION OR STERILIZATION OF MINORS. 1.7 A person who does any of the following to a person under the age of 18 years is guilty 1.8of a felony: 1.9 (1) physical or chemical castration; 1.10 (2) surgery on the genitalia or reproductive organs; or 1.11 (3) any surgery, procedure, or administration of drugs that results in the person being 1.12unable to conceive a child. 1.13 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective August 1, 2025, and applies to crimes 1.14committed on or after that date. 1Section 1.
