                    1.1	A bill for an act​
1.2 relating to public safety; amending the definition of prior qualified human​
1.3 trafficking-related offense to include violations of certain state laws committed in​
1.4 the person's lifetime and violations of similar laws in other states; amending​
1.5 Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 609.321, subdivision 14.​
1.6BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
1.7 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 609.321, subdivision 14, is amended to read:​
1.8 Subd. 14.Prior qualified human trafficking-related offense.A "prior qualified human​
1.9trafficking-related offense" means a previous conviction or delinquency adjudication within​
1.10the ten years from the discharge from probation or parole immediately preceding the current​
1.11offense for a violation of or an attempt to violate section 609.322, subdivision 1 (solicitation,​
1.12inducement, and promotion of prostitution; sex trafficking in the first degree); 609.322,​
1.13subdivision 1a (solicitation, inducement, and promotion of prostitution; sex trafficking in​
1.14the second degree); 609.282 (labor trafficking); or 609.283 (unlawful conduct with respect​
1.15to documents in furtherance of labor or sex trafficking); or a statute from another state or​
1.16the United States in conformity with any of these offenses.​
1.17 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective August 1, 2025, and applies to crimes​
1.18committed on or after that date.​
