1.1 A bill for an act
1.2 relating to state lands; making the commissioner of natural resources responsible
1.3 for the maintenance and use of the Old Williams School property; requiring a
1.4 report.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.6 Section 1. STATE RESPONSIBILITY FOR OLD WILLIAMS SCHOOL
1.7PROPERTY.
1.8 (a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, chapter 282, or any other law to the contrary,
1.9Lake of the Woods County is not responsible for managing the property known as the Old
1.10Williams School site. The commissioner of natural resources, in consultation with the
1.11commissioner of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, is responsible for maintaining
1.12and using the property.
1.13 (b) By February 1, 2026, the commissioner of natural resources, in consultation with
1.14the commissioner of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, must submit a report to the
1.15chairs and ranking minority members of the legislative committees with primary jurisdiction
1.16over environment policy and finance on options for cleaning up, maintaining, and using the
1.17Old Williams School site.
1.18 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
