1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​
1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION.​
1.6 $1,000,000 in fiscal year 2026 and $1,000,000 in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from​
1.7the general fund to the commissioner of public safety to fund a violence prevention project​
1.8research center that operates as a nonprofit, nonpartisan research center dedicated to reducing​
1.9violence in society and using data and analysis to improve criminal justice-related policy​
1.10and practice in Minnesota. The research center must place an emphasis on issues related to​
1.11gun violence.​
