1.2 relating to education; providing for cursive instruction in elementary school;
1.3 appropriating money.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. CURSIVE HANDWRITING.
1.6 The commissioner of education must develop an elementary English language arts model
1.7curriculum that is designed to enable students to develop legible cursive handwriting skills
1.8by the end of grade 5. The commissioner must include instructional materials in the model
1.9curriculum.
1.10 Sec. 2. APPROPRIATION.
1.11 $....... in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of
1.12education for grants to school districts to adopt a cursive handwriting curriculum.
