1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to economic development; appropriating money to assist individuals with 1.3 disabilities with employment; requiring a report. 1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.5 Section 1. MINNESOTA DIVERSIFIED INDUSTRIES; APPROPRIATION. 1.6 $450,000 in fiscal year 2026 and $450,000 in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from the 1.7workforce development fund to the commissioner of employment and economic development 1.8for grants to Minnesota Diversified Industries to provide inclusive employment opportunities 1.9and services for people with disabilities. This is a onetime appropriation. 1.10 Sec. 2. CAREER SKILLS PROGRAMMING; APPROPRIATION. 1.11 $250,000 in fiscal year 2026 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner 1.12of employment and economic development for a grant to Minnesota Diversified Industries 1.13to assist individuals with disabilities through the unified work model by offering virtual, 1.14online, and in-person career skills classes augmented with virtual reality tools. Minnesota 1.15Diversified Industries shall submit a report on the number and demographics of individuals 1.16served, hours of career skills programming delivered, outreach to employers, and 1.17recommendations for future career skills delivery methods to the chairs and ranking minority 1.18members of the legislative committees with jurisdiction over labor and workforce 1.19development policy and finance by January 15, 2028.
