1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to public safety; eliminating the mandatory fine for school bus stop-signal 1.3 arm violations; amending Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 169.444, subdivision 1.4 2. 1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.6 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 169.444, subdivision 2, is amended to read: 1.7 Subd. 2.Violations by drivers; penalties.(a) A person who fails to stop a vehicle or 1.8to keep it stopped, as required in subdivision 1, or who violates subdivision 1a, is guilty of 1.9a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not less than $500. 1.10 (b) A person is guilty of a gross misdemeanor if the person fails to stop a motor vehicle 1.11or to keep it stopped, as required in subdivision 1, or who violates subdivision 1a, and 1.12commits either or both of the following acts: 1.13 (1) passes or attempts to pass the school bus in a motor vehicle on the right-hand, 1.14passenger-door side of the bus; or 1.15 (2) passes or attempts to pass the school bus in a motor vehicle when a school child is 1.16outside of and on the street or highway used by the school bus or on the adjacent sidewalk. 1Section 1. 25-04804 as introduced03/10/25 REVISOR KRB/ES SENATE STATE OF MINNESOTA S.F.
