1.1 A bill for an act
1.2 relating to capital investment; appropriating money for a new bike trail from the
1.3 city of Harmony to the city of Caledonia; authorizing the sale and issuance of state
1.4 bonds.
1.5BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.6 Section 1. HARMONY-CALEDONIA BIKE TRAIL.
1.7 Subdivision 1.Appropriation.(a) $14,000,000 is appropriated from the bond proceeds
1.8fund to the commissioner of natural resources for acquisition of property and easements,
1.9predesign, and design of a bike trail from the city of Harmony to the city of Caledonia
1.10following marked Trunk Highway 44 and marked U.S. Highway 52 and routed through the
1.11cities of Canton, Mabel, and Spring Grove. This appropriation is for Phase 1 of the project.
1.12 (b) Any unspent portion of this appropriation remaining after completion of the project
1.13in paragraph (a), after written notice to the commissioner of management and budget, is
1.14available for engineering and construction of the bike trail.
1.15 Subd. 2.Bond sale.To provide the money appropriated in this section from the bond
1.16proceeds fund, the commissioner of management and budget shall sell and issue bonds of
1.17the state in an amount up to $14,000,000 in the manner, upon the terms, and with the effect
1.18prescribed by Minnesota Statutes, sections 16A.631 to 16A.675, and by the Minnesota
1.19Constitution, article XI, sections 4 to 7.
1.20 EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective the day following final enactment.
