1.1 A bill for an act
1.2 relating to veterans affairs; requiring reports; appropriating money for Metro Meals
1.3 on Wheels.
1.4BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; METRO MEALS ON WHEELS.
1.6 (a) $497,500 in fiscal year 2026 and $497,500 in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from
1.7the general fund to the commissioner of veterans affairs for a grant to Metro Meals on
1.8Wheels to provide:
1.9 (1) home-delivered meals to veterans; and
1.10 (2) technical, enrollment, outreach, and volunteer recruitment assistance to member
1.11programs.
1.12 (b) Metro Meals on Wheels must report to the commissioner of veterans affairs and the
1.13chairs and ranking minority members of the legislative committees with jurisdiction over
1.14veterans affairs policy and finance no later than September 1, 2026, for fiscal year 2026,
1.15and September 1, 2027, for fiscal year 2027. Each report must include, at a minimum, a
1.16detailed explanation of how the grant money was used and the number of veterans and
1.17service members served by the program.
1.18 (c) This is a onetime appropriation.
