1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to agriculture; appropriating money for wolf and elk depredation payments. 1.3BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.4 Section 1. DEPREDATION PAYMENTS; APPROPRIATION. 1.5 (a) $....... in fiscal year 2026 and $....... in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from the 1.6general fund to the commissioner of agriculture for compensation payments under Minnesota 1.7Statutes, section 3.737, for livestock destroyed or crippled by wolves. If the amount in the 1.8first year is insufficient, the amount in the second year is available in the first year. The 1.9commissioner may use up to $5,000 of this appropriation each year to reimburse expenses 1.10incurred by university extension agents to provide fair market values of destroyed or crippled 1.11livestock. 1.12 (b) $....... in fiscal year 2026 and $....... in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from the 1.13general fund to the commissioner of agriculture for compensation payments under Minnesota 1.14Statutes, section 3.7371, for crop or fence damage caused by elk.
