1.2 relating to health insurance; modifying coverage of chiropractic services in the
1.3 medical assistance and MinnesotaCare programs; amending Minnesota Statutes
1.4 2024, section 256B.0625, subdivision 8e; repealing Minnesota Statutes 2024,
1.5 section 256L.03, subdivision 3b.
1.6BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:
1.7 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 256B.0625, subdivision 8e, is amended to
1.8read:
1.9 Subd. 8e.Chiropractic services.Payment for (a) Medical assistance covers chiropractic
1.10services is and related services recommended by a health care professional: (1) licensed to
1.11perform such services; and (2) using generally accepted chiropractic standards of care.
1.12Covered services include but are not limited to medical evaluation and management services,
1.13manual therapy, spinal manipulation, and therapeutic exercises to treat acute spinal pain,
1.14chronic spinal pain, and neuromusculoskeletal conditions related to the spine.
1.15 (b) Services covered under this subdivision, other than x-rays, are limited to one annual
1.16evaluation and 24 visits per year unless prior authorization of a greater number of visits is
1.17obtained. Coverage for x-rays is limited to radiological examinations:
1.18 (1) of the full spine; the cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and lumbosacral areas of the spine;
1.19the pelvis; or the sacroiliac joints; and
1.20 (2) necessary to support a diagnosis of subluxation.
1.21 Sec. 2. REPEALER.
1.22 Minnesota Statutes 2024, section 256L.03, subdivision 3b, is repealed.
