ThisbillestablishesthattheDirectoroftheDepartmentofHealth
andSeniorServices,ifalicensedphysician,mayissueastatewide
standingorder,orcontractwithalicensedphysiciantoissuesuch
order,foranaddictionmitigationmedication,definedasproperly
administerednaltrexonehydrochloride. Anylicensedpharmacistmay
sellanddispenseanaddictionmitigationmedicationundera
physicianprotocolorstatewidestandingorder.Apharmacist
actingingoodfaithandwithreasonablecarethatsellsor
dispensesanaddictionmitigationmedicationshallnotbesubject
toanycriminalorcivilliabilityorprofessionaldisciplinary
actionforprescribingordispensingsuchmedicationorforany
resultingoutcome.Itshallbepermissibleforanypersonto
possessanaddictionmitigationmedication.
Thisbillprovidesthat,inadditiontothosedepartmentsthat
currentlyhaveaccess,theDepartmentofCorrections,theOfficeof
Administration, andthejudiciaryshallhaveaccesstothe"Opioid
AddictionTreatmentandRecoveryFund"topayforopioidaddiction
treatmentandpreventionservicesandhealthcareandlaw
enforcementcostsrelatedtoopioidaddictiontreatmentand
prevention.
