Currentlawprovidesalist,intheorderofpriority,ofnext-of-
kinwhohavetherighttocontrolthedispositionofadeadhuman
body.Thisbillprovidesthatthesurvivingspousewillnotbe
consideredasnext-of-kinifanactionfordissolutionofmarriage
hasbeenfiledandispendinginacourtofcompetentjurisdiction.
Additionally,thenext-of-kinofadeceasedpersonmaydelegatethe
finaldispositionofthedeceasedtoanagentthroughapowerof
attorney.
Thisbillspecifiesthatanindividualwithasuperiorclaimtothe
dispositionofthedeceasedmaybenotifiedinpersonorbywritten
noticewithdeliveryconfirmation,ratherthan"personallyserved
withwrittennotice",byapersonwithaninferiorclaimwhohas
thedesiretoexercisetherighttocontrolthefinaldisposition
ofthedeceased.
