HB2397--GOODTIMECREDIT SPONSOR: Aldridge Currently,certainoffenderscommittedtotheDepartmentof Correctionsmayreceiveadditionalcredituponrecommendation by theoffender'sinstitutionalsuperintendent whentheoffendermeets certainrequirementsspecifiedinstatute.Thisbillspecifies thatsuchoffendersshallinsteadreceiveadditionalcredit, accordingtotheprovisionsspecifiedinthebill,iftheoffender meetsthecertainrequirements,anditremovestherequirementthat theinstitutionalsuperintendent recommendssuchcredit.Credits fromprioryearsarenotlostformajorviolationsandcreditsmay berestoredasamatteroftheDepartment'spolicy. Thebillalsorevisestherequirementsrelatingtothepolicyfor awardingcredit,anditrequirestheDepartmentofCorrectionsto adoptrulesspecifyingprogramsoractivitiesforwhichcreditmay beearnedaswellascreatingcriteriarelatingtoparticipationin andcompletionofsuchprogramsoractivities. Theaccumulatedcreditofeveryoffendershallbetalliedmonthly andmaintainedbytheinstitutionwherethetermofimprisonmentis beingserved.Arecordofsuchaccumulatedcreditshallbesentto therecordsofficeoftheDepartmentonaquarterlybasis, forwardedtotheDivisionofProbationandParole,andprovidedto theoffender.
