Thisbillallowsteacherswhoarereceivingaretirementallowance
underthePublicSchoolRetirementSystem(PSRS)orthePublic
EducationEmployeeRetirementSystem(PEERS)toworkinaschool
districtwithoutadiscontinuance oftheperson'sretirement
allowance. Asspecifiedinthisbillifanindividualchoosesto
workintheschoolsystemafterretirementtheywillnotcontribute
toadditionalretirementbenefits.
Thisbillincludesanemergencyclauseandtheprovisionsofthis
billwillexpireonJanuary1,2026whenthecurrentstatutory
languagewillresume.
ThebilllanguagemirrorstheDepartmentofElementaryand
SecondaryEducation'stemporarywaiver,duringthedeclaredstate
ofemergencyfromAugust2020toDecember2021,forstatestatutes
thatlimitedthenumberofhoursretirededucatorscouldwork.
