Thisbillprovidesthatanyelectedofficial,whoordersthe
closureofaprivatebusinesswithoutproperauthorization, in
violationofSection67.265,RSMo,anyotherprovisionoflawor
regulation,inordertoaddressanypublichealthconcernor
preventthespreadofacontagiousdiseaseduringapandemic,shall
havehisorherpaysuspendedfortheperiodofthebusiness's
closure.

PROPONENTS: Supporterssaythatofficialsinthecountyhealth
departmentwhoauthorizetheclosureofprivatebusinessescontinue
toreceivetheirsalaryduringtheperiodofclosure,without
realizingtheconsequencestothecommunity. Referencewasmadeto
legislationthatwaspassedinthelastsessionwherethedecision
toauthorizeclosureofabusinesswasmadeatthehighestlevel.

decisionshouldbemadebythebusinessownerandnotthe
government.
