Thisbillmodifiesprovisionsrelatingtocredittowardtheservice
ofasentenceofimprisonmentbychangingthebeginningofthe
creditaccrualtoaftertheoffenseoccurred,asopposedtothe
currentprovisionofafterconviction. Thiscreditmustbebased
uponthecertificationofthesheriff,andmaybesupplementedbya
certificateofasherifffromanotherjurisdictionhavingheldthe
persononthechargeoftheoffenseforwhichthesentenceis
ordered.
Thecourt,whenpronouncingsentence,mayawardadditionalcredit
fortimespentinprison,jail,orcustodybeforethecommencement
ofthesentenceforthoseinwhichthepersonwasincarcerated,but
forwhomnodetainerorwarrantwasserved.
