Currently,theDepartmentofNaturalResourcesisprohibitedfrom
issuingapermitfortheoperationofasolidwastedisposalarea
designedtoserveacitywithapopulationgreaterthan400,000
inhabitantslocatedinmorethanonecounty,ifthesiteislocated
withinone-halfmileofanadjoiningmunicipalitywithoutits
approval. Theadjoiningmunicipalitymustconductapublichearing
within15daysofprovidingpublicnotice.
Thisbillchangestherequirementfromacitytoaservicearea
withapopulationgreaterthan400,000inhabitantslocatedinmore
thanonecounty,changesthedistancefromtheadjoining
municipalityfromone-halfmiletoonemile,andchangesthetime
inwhichtheadjoiningmunicipalitymustholdahearingfrom15
daysto30days.
