PROPONENTS: Supporterssaythatthisisastraightforward bill,
whichisalsoknownas“Marie’sLaw.”Itcameaboutasaresultof
adrunkboatingaccidentandthisisanattempttoeducatethe
publicaboutappropriateandrespectfulboating. Theboatingwhile
intoxicatedlawsinMissouriareoutdated,andtheyshouldprobably
bechangedtomirrorMissouri’sdrivingwhileintoxicatedstatutes.
TheLakeoftheOzarksisaprettydangerouslakeasitisbutit’s
exacerbatedbytheconsumptionofalcohol. Accidentsonthewater
happenfast,oftenfasterthancaraccidents. Consumptionof
alcoholcanloweraperson’sreactiontime,whichcanmakethe
differenceinchancesofsurvivingoravoidinganaccident. Most
peopledon’tunderstandallthefactorsthatgointospeedonthe
water.
