Currently,ifanoffenderhasonepreviousprisoncommitmenttothe
DepartmentofCorrectionsforafelonyoffense,theminimumprison
termis40%ofthesentence. Ifanoffenderhastwoprevious
prisoncommitmentstotheDepartmentofCorrectionsforfelony
offenses,theminimumprisontermis50%ofthesentence. Ifan
offenderhasthreepreviousprisoncommitmentstotheDepartmentof
Correctionstheminimumprisontermis80%ofthesentence.
Thisbillrepealstheseprovisions,requiringanyoffenderwithone
ortwopriorfelonyconvictionstoserve50%ofthesentence
imposedbythecourt;andanyoffenderwiththreeormoreprior
felonyconvictionstoserve80%ofthesentence.
