BeitenactedbytheGeneralAssemblyofthestateofMissouri,asfollows:
SectionA.Chapter115,RSMo,isamendedbyaddingtheretoonenewsection,tobe
2knownassection115.640,toreadasfollows:
115.640.1.Anystudententitledtovoteatanyelectionheldwithinthisstate
2shall,onthedayofsuchelection,beentitledtoabsenthimselforherselffromschoolfor
3aperiodofthreehoursbetweenthetimeofopeningandthetimeofclosingthepollsfor
4thepurposeofvoting,andanysuchabsenceforsuchpurposeshallbecountedas
5excused;andsuchstudent,ifheorshevotes,shallnot,becauseofsoabsentinghimself
6orherself,beliabletoanypenaltyordiscipline,providedthatarequestshallbemade
7forsuchleaveofabsencepriortothedayofelection.Theschoolmaydesignateany
8threehoursbetweenthetimeofopeningandthetimeofclosingthepollsduringwhich
9suchstudentmayabsenthimselforherself.
10 2.Anyschoolofficialviolatingthissectionshallbedeemedguiltyofaclassfour
11electionoffense.
12 3.Eachschooldistrictshalladoptandimplementawrittenpolicyrelatingto
13absencesexcusedunderthissectionbeginningwiththe2025-26schoolyear.The
14departmentofelementaryandsecondaryeducationshalldevelopamodelpolicy
15relatingtoabsencesexcusedunderthissectionthatallschooldistrictsmayadopt.Such
