Currently,acountyprosecutingattorneyotherthaninacharter
countyreceivescompensationequaltothecompensationofan
associatecircuitjudge.
Thisbillprovidesthat,inacountythatpassedaproposition
authorizedbylawestablishingalowerpercentageofcompensation
foranassociatecircuitjudge,thehighestpercentageof
compensationthatwasapprovedbyvoterswillbeusedtocompute
thesalaryofthefull-timeprosecutor.
Currently,compensationforapart-timeprosecutingattorneyinany
countyotherthanachartercountyisprescribedusingastatutory
schedulebasedthecounty'sassessedvaluation.
Thisbillrepealsthatsalaryscheduleandsetsthecompensation
forapart-timecountyprosecutorasequalto67%ofthe
compensationofanassociatecircuitjudge.
Inacountythatpassedapropositionauthorizedbylaw
establishingalowerpercentageofcompensationforanassociate
circuitjudge,thehighestpercentageofcompensationthatwas
approvedbyvoterswillbeusedtocomputethesalaryofthepart-
timeprosecutor.
Thebillalsorequirespart-timeprosecutorstodevoteaminimumof
25hoursperweektoprosecutingduties.
