Undertheprovisionsofthisbill,allschooldistricts,starting
inthe2026-27schoolyear,mustrequirestudentstocompleteone-
halfunitcreditofpersonalfinanceinordertograduatehigh
school.Schoolscanwaivetherequirementforcertaintransfer
studentsasspecifiedinthebill.
ThisbillrequirestheDepartmentofElementaryandSecondary
Educationtoconveneaworkgrouptodevelopandrecommendacademic
performancestandardsrelatingtotheone-halfunitofcreditin
personalfinance. Membersoftheworkgroupmustincludeeducators
whoprovideinstructioninpersonalfinance,arepresentative from
theMissouriAssociationofCareerandTechnicalEducation,and
othersspecifiedinthebillwithatleast25%ofthemembers
comprisedofeducators.
TheStateBoardofEducation(SBE)mustadoptandimplement
academicperformancestandardsforthe2026-27schoolyearandall
subsequentschoolyears.Everysevenyears,theSBEwillreview
theacademicperformancestandardstodeterminewhethertheyshould
beupdatedtoreflecttrendsandbestpracticesinthecurrent
economy.
