Currently,theannualsalariesforcertaincountyofficialsare
establishedinStatestatute. Salariesarefixedonanassessed
valuationschedule,withofficialsfromcountieswithhigher
assessedvaluationreceivingahigherannualsalary.
Thisbillreplacestheexistingfixedannualsalarywithaminimum
startingsalarylinkedtoanadjustedassessedvaluationschedule,
asspecifiedinthebill.
Thebillspecifiesthatanypercentagesalaryadjustmentbeginning
onoraftertheeffectivedateofthebillwillnotdecreasethe
currentsalaryofanyofficial.
Currently,thesalarycommissionofacountycanincreasethe
annualsalaryofacountyofficialbyupto$2,000morethanthe
annualcompensationprovidedbystatutorysalaryschedules. This
billrepealsthe$2,000limitforincreasestocountyofficial
compensation.
Thecountyofficesthatareaffectedbythischangeincludethe
countycommissioner,recorderofdeeds,countyclerk,county
collector,countyassessor,countytreasurer,countycollector-
treasurer,countyauditor,andpublicadministrator.
Finally,thebillrepealsmultiple-enactedsectionsasaresultof
theMissouriSupremeCourtfindingHB1606(2022)unconstitutional.
