Currently,newbornsafetyincubatorsareauthorizedtobeinstalled
incertainlocationsforarelinquishingparenttoleaveanewborn
child,upto45daysofage,withoutfearofprosecution. This
billmodifiestheagelimitofanewborninfantthatmaybebrought
toanewbornsafetyincubatorfrom45daysoldto90daysold.
Additionally,thebillcreatesthe"SafePlaceforNewbornsFund"
andprovidesthattheStateofMissouriwillmatchmoneysfromthe
GeneralRevenueFund,intheamountofupto$10,000per
installationofnewbornsafetyincubators.
PROPONENTS: Supporterssaythatover3,000babieshavebeensaved
throughthistypeofinterventionandthatthisisareprievefor
thosewhoworkontheseacrosstheStatebutwhomayhavetrouble
fundingsuchboxes.TheStateisuniqueinthatithasalarger
numberofpersonsandfacilitiestowhomortowhichababycanbe
relinquished.
