Currently,sheriffsotherthanthesheriffsoftheCityofSt.
LouisandofSt.LouisCountyarerequiredtoholdavalidpeace
officerlicensetobeeligibletoholdtheofficeofsheriff. This
billrepealstheprovisionexcludingthesheriffoftheCityofSt.
Louis,thusrequiringhimorhertohaveavalidpeaceofficer
licensetoqualifytobesheriff.
Currently,thesheriffoftheCityofSt.Louis,withanapproval
ofthemajorityofthecircuitjudges,appointsasmanydeputies
andassistantsasneeded.Thebillallowsthesherifftodetermine
thecompensationfordeputyassistants.
