SectionA.Chapter197,RSMo,isamendedbyaddingtheretoonenewsection,tobe
2knownassection197.180,toreadasfollows:
197.180.1.Medicationsinmultidosecontainersthatareadministeredtoorused
2forapatientduringthepatient'shospitalstaymay,ifsoorderedbyanauthorized
3healthcareprovider,besentwiththepatientatdischargetothepatient'shomeorto
4anotherhealthcarefacility.
5 2.Multidosemedicationsshallinclude,butarenotlimitedto,inhalers,
6ointments,creams,medicationsrequiringtheoriginalcontainerfordispensing,insulin
7pensandvials,eyedrops,eardrops,wearableoron-bodymedicationdeliverysystems,
8andinfusionsthatarecurrentlyconnectedtothepatient'sinfusiondevice.
9 3.Multidosemedicationsshallbelabeledwiththedate,patient'sname,
10prescriber'sname,nameandaddressofthehospital,medicationnameandstrength,
11instructionsforuse,andotherpertinentinformation.Labelingshallbeperformedbya
12pharmacist,prescriber,orregisterednurse.Labeledinstructionsforusemayreferto
13specificwritteninstructionsprovidedbyapharmacist,prescriber,orregisterednurseat
14thetimeofdischarge.
15 4.Controlledsubstancesshallnotbesentwiththepatient,exceptthatwearable
16oron-bodymedicationdeliverysystemsofcontrolledsubstancesorcontrolledsubstance
17infusionscurrentlyconnectedtothepatient'sinfusiondevicemaybesentif:

intendedtobeomittedfromthelaw.Matterinbold-facetypeintheabovebillisproposedlanguage. 18 (1)Themedicationisnecessaryforadministrationduringtransportofthe
19patient;
20 (2)Thequantityofthecontrolledsubstancesentisdocumentedinthepatient's
21medicalrecordbythepersonsendingthemedication;and
22 (3)Thepharmacyisnotifiedthatthemedicationisbeingsentwiththepatient.
23 5.ThissectionshallnotrequireaclassBhospitalpharmacytoobtainorcomply
24withadditionallicensureorregulatoryrequirements.
