Currently,theMissouriStateHighwayPatrol(MSHP)isunderthe
DepartmentofPublicSafety.ThisbillremovestheMSHPfromunder
theDepartmentofPublicSafetyandcreatestheDepartmentofthe
HighwayPatrol,whichwillbeinthechargeoftheSuperintendent
oftheMSHP.Allpowers,duties,andfunctionsoftheMSHPwillbe
transferredtotheDepartmentoftheHighwayPatrol.
Theenactmentoftheprovisionsofthisbilliscontingentonthe
passageandapprovalbythevotersofaconstitutional amendmentto
addadepartmenttothestatedepartmentmaximum. Uponvoter
approvedthebillhasaneffectivedateofDecember3,2026.
