Thisbillrepealstheinspectionrequirementfornon-commercial
motorvehicleswhichiscurrentlyrequiredinordertorenewa
motorvehiclelicense. Theairqualityandemissioninspection
requirementsforSt.Louisandsomespecifiedareaswhichare
mandatedbyFederallawarenotmodified. Inspectionstationsmay
stillperformschoolbussafetyinspections,andodometerreading
inspectionsandservicesfortransferringvehicleownership.
Thebillalsospecifiesthatthefirstoffensefordrivingwith
expiredregistrationmayberemovedfromadriver'srecordif,
within30days,thedriverrenewstheregistrationandsubmitsa
requeststotheDepartmentofRevenuerequestingtheremoval.
BeginningJanuary1,2026,theDirectorofRevenuemayprovide
ownersofcertainmotorvehiclestheadditionaloptionsofathree-
yearandfive-yearregistrationasspecifiedinthebill.In
addition,motorvehiclesmayberegisteredpermanentlyuponpayment
of10timestheapplicablefeesrequiredtoregisterthevehicle
annually.
