Thisbillestablishesthe"DietitianLicensureCompact",whichis
aninterstateagreementthatallowsthepracticeofdietetics
acrossstatelineswithinotherstatesthatareapartofthe
Compact. Thebilloutlinesthelicensingrequirements,education
requirementsforthedietitians,andthedutiesofthemember
states.
Thebillfurtherproposestoestablishajointgovernmentagency
knownasthe"DietitianLicensureCompactCommission",whichwill
administerandenforcetheCompact,adoptrulesandbylaws,
maintainadatasystem,investigatecomplaints,reportcomplaints
tohomestatesofdietitians,andperformotherfunctionsnecessary
orappropriatetoachievethepurposesoftheCompact.
ProvisionsofthebillensuretheCompactwillnotaffect
Missouri'slicensereciprocitylaws.
Thisbillspecifiesthat,afirsttimeapplicantwhohasnot
previouslytakenorpassedanexaminationcanobtainwithout
examinationanonrenewabletemporarylicensebypayingatemporary
licensefeeandsubmittinganagreement-to-superviseformthatis
signedbyalicenseddietitianwhohasagreedtosupervisethe
applicant. Suchtemporarylicenseecanpracticedietetics,butany
suchpracticemustbeunderthesupervisionofadietitianlicensed
inthisState.
Thesupervisingdietitianmusthaveanunencumberedlicenseto
practiceandheorshecannotbeanimmediatefamilymemberofthe
temporarylicensee.
Thetemporarylicenseobtainedbyanapplicantwillexpirethedate
thelicensee'semploymentwiththesupervisingdietitianhasceased
orwithin180daysofitsissuance,whicheveroccursfirst.
