Thisbillwillrequireschooldistrictstoadoptawrittenpolicy
onelectronictelecommunication devicesbeginninginthe2025-26
schoolyear.Therequirementsofthepolicyarespecifiedand
includeprohibitingstudentuseofcellphoneandsmartwatches
duringregularlyscheduledinstructionalactivitiesunless
authorizedbytheschoolprincipal. Exceptionsareprovidedfor
studentswithdocumentedneedsandforhealthpurposes.
Thepolicyalsomustprovideguidelinesandrequirementsfor
electronictelecommunication devicesduringnoninstructional school
activities,includingschool-sponsoredfieldtripsandduring
transportation.
