Thisbillallowsanoticeofelectiontobesentbyemail.
Thebillmovesthefilingdatesforadeclarationofcandidacyin
certainpoliticalsubdivisionsandspecialdistrictsbackbyone
week,fromthe17thTuesdaypriortotheelectionuntilthe14th
Tuesdaypriortotheelection,tothe16thTuesdaypriortothe
electionuntilthe13thTuesdaypriortotheelection.
Currently,coveredvoterseligibletoregistertovotemayvotein
certainelectionsbysubmittingafederalpostcardapplicationto
applytovoteattheirpollingplace.Thisbillchangesthis
requirementfromthepollingplacetotheofficeoftheelection
authorityonelectionday.
Currently,interstateformerresidentsandnewresidentsmayvote
absenteeforpresidentialandvicepresidentialelectors. This
billallowsthemtovoteforthoseelectorsattheofficeofthe
electionauthorityonelectionday.
Thisbillprovidesthatalllistsofabsenteeballotapplications
forpeoplewithpermanentdisabilitieswillbekeptconfidential
andmustnotbepostedordisplayedinanareaopentothegeneral
publicnorshowntoanyunauthorizedperson.
Thisbillallowsaprovisionalballottobecastinanypublic
election.
Thebillprovidesthatvotesforwrite-incandidatesmustonlybe
countedforcandidateswhohavefiledadeclarationofintenttobe
awrite-incandidate,evenifnocandidatehasfiledforthat
office.
Thisbillestablishestheoffenseoftamperingwithanelection
official.
Apersoncommitstheoffenseoftamperingwithanelectionofficial
ifthey,withthepurposetoharassorintimidateanelection
officialintheperformanceoftheirofficialduties:
(1)Threatentoharmorcauseharmtoanelectionofficialora
memberoftheirfamily;
(2)Useforce,threats,ordeceptionagainstanelectionofficial
ormemberoftheirfamily; (3)Attempttopressureanelectionofficialormemberoftheir
familytoviolateaprovisionofelectionlaw;
(4)Engageinconductreasonablycalculatedtoharassoralarman
electionofficialormemberoftheirfamily,includingstalking;or
(5)Doxanelectionofficialormemberoftheirfamily.
Theoffenseoftamperingwithanelectionofficialisaclassone
electionoffense. Ifaviolationresultsindeathorbodilyinjury
toanelectionofficialoramemberoftheirfamily,theoffenseis
aclassBfelony.
