Thisbillrepealsthecurrentlanguagerelatingtotheincreaseor
decreaseoftheminimumwagebasedupontheConsumerPriceIndex
forUrbanWageEarnersandClericalWorkers.
Underthisbill,theminimumwagerequiredbySection290.502,
RSMo,willnotapplytoanyemployeewhoisunder20yearsofage.
Thisexemptionfromtheminimumwagerequirementsappliesonlyto
employmentcompensationpaidoraccruedonoraftertheeffective
dateofofthisbillanddoesnotapplyretroactively.
Employerswhoemployemployeesundertheageof20yearsare
requiredtocomplywithotherapplicableprovisionsoftheMinimum
WageLaw,sections290.500to290.530.
Beginningontheeffectivedateofthisbill,theminimumwagelaw
willapplytopublicemployers.
Currently,thedefinitionof"employee"towhomtheprovisionsof
thepaidsickleaveprovisionsapply,exemptsanindividual
employedbyaretailorservicebusinesswhoseannualgrossvolume
salesmadearelessthan$500,000. Thisbillexcludesretailor
servicebusinesswhoseannualgrossvolumesalesintheprior
calendaryearwaslessthan$10million.
