HB803--BLOODTESTSOFPREGNANTWOMEN SPONSOR: Stinnett Thisbillmodifiesprovisionsgoverningbloodtestsandmaternal screeningforpregnantwomen. Currently,pregnantwomenareaskedtotakeabloodtestatthe timeofthefirstprenatalexamination,ornolaterthan20days afterthefirstprenatalexamination,toscreenforsyphilisand hepatitisB,aswellasanyothertreatablediseasesandmetabolic disordersasareprescribedbytheDepartmentofHealthandSenior Services. Thisbillrequiresanadditionalbloodsampletobetaken,withthe woman'sconsent,at28weeksofpregnancy,andexpandsthelistof diseasesforscreeningtoincludehepatitisCandHIV.Thebill alsorepealsaprovisionoutliningtheprocedureforalatersample ofawoman'sbloodinanyareaofthestatedesignatedasa syphilisoutbreakarea,andprovidesthatifawomantestspositive forsyphilis,hepatitisBorC,orHIV,oracombinationthereof, thephysicianorpersonprovidingcaremustadministertreatmentin accordancewiththemostrecentacceptedmedicalpracticetotreat suchdiseases. ThebilladditionallyrepealsareferencetotheMissouriGenetic DiseaseAdvisoryCommittee,grantingtheDepartmentthesole authoritytomakerulespertainingtosuchtests,providedthatthe testsareofthetypesapprovedoracceptedbytheUSFoodandDrug Administration. Thebillalsorepealsarequirementthatapproved andstandardtestsforthesediseasesmustbemadeinaDepartment- approvedlaboratory. ThisbillisthesameasHB1979(2024).
