2 (1)"Adverseaction",anyactionorpolicythatdeniesabelief-basedstudent
3associationanybenefitavailabletootherstudentassociationsororganizationsorthat
4otherwisediscriminateswithrespecttoanysuchbenefit;
5 (2)"Belief-basedstudentassociation"includes,butisnotlimitedto,anypolitical
6orideologicalstudentassociationoranyreligiousstudentassociation;
7 (3)"Benefit",recognition,registration,theuseoffacilitiesofapublicinstitution
8ofhigherlearningformeetingsorspeakingpurposes,theuseofchannelsof
9communicationofapublicinstitutionofhigherlearning,orsuchotherassistance,

7 (c)Basedonsuchassociation'srequirementthattheassociation'sleadersbe
8committedtofurtheringtheassociation'smissionorthattheassociation'sleaders
9adheretotheassociation'ssincerelyheldbeliefs,sincerepracticerequirements,or
10sincerestandardsofconduct.
11 (2)Leadersreferredtoinparagraph(c)ofsubdivision(1)ofthissubsectionshall
12include,butnotbelimitedto,anypersonwhoholdsapositionwithintheassociation
13thatauthorizessuchpersontoparticipateintheleadershiporgovernanceofthe
14associationorinestablishingcriteriafortheassociation'sleadershiporgovernance.
15 (3)Themission,beliefs,practicerequirements,andstandardsofconduct
16referredtoinparagraph(c)ofsubdivision(1)ofthissubsectionshallbeinterpretedas
17definedbytheassociation.
18 2.Anybelief-basedstudentassociationorapplicanttoberecognizedassuchthat
19hasbeenaggrievedasaresultofaviolationorthreatenedviolationofsubsection1of
20thissectionmayassertthatviolationorthreatenedviolationasaclaimordefenseina
21judicialproceedingorinanadministrativeproceedinginvolvingthepublicinstitutionof
22higherlearningandobtainappropriaterelief.
