higherlearningfromtakinganyactionorenforcinganypolicythat
deniesabelief-basedstudentassociationbenefitsavailableto
otherstudentassociations.
Thebillprohibitsdiscrimination againstabelief-basedstudent
associationbasedonitsrequirementthatleadersofthe
associationadheretoitssincerelyheldbeliefs,practice
requirements,orstandardsofconduct.
Thebillauthorizesaggrievedbelief-basedstudentassociationsto
seekappropriatereliefinajudicialoradministrative proceeding
involvingapublicinstitutionofhigherlearningthatviolatesthe
requirementsofthebill.
ThisbillisthesameasSB160(2025)andHB1518(2024).
PROPONENTS: Supporterssaythatthisbillcodifieswhatisalready
aconstitutional rightenjoyedbyMissouricitizens,inthatthe
provisionsofthisbillcurbseffortsmadebypubliccollegesand
universitiesfrominfringinguponastudent'sreligiousspeech.
Supportersfurthersaythatthisbilldoesnotpreventstudents
frombecomingamemberofanygrouporclub,butratherfocuseson
thoseseekingaleadershipposition.
