adogorcatinananimalcontrolagency,animalshelter,orpound
istheinjectionofsodiumphenobarbitaloritsderivative. The
useofanyothermethodisanoffenseasspecifiedundertheAnimal
CareFacilitiesAct.However,anysubstancethatisclinically
proventobeashumaneassodiumphenobarbitalandhasbeen
officiallyrecognizedbytheAmericanVeterinaryMedical
Associationcanbeusedinlieuofsodiumphenobarbitalifthe
DirectoroftheDepartmentofAgriculturehasdeterminedthereisa
shortageofsodiumphenobarbital.
