Thenumberofexecutivedepartmentsinthestateislimitedandset
inArticleIV,Section12oftheConstitutionofMissouri.
Currently,theMissouriStateHighwayPatrolisunderthe
DepartmentofPublicSafety.
Uponvoterapproval,thisresolutionamendstheConstitutionto
createaDepartmentoftheHighwayPatrol,increasingthenumberof
authorizeddepartmentsinthestatefrom16to17,andplacesitin
thechargeofasuperintendent appointedbytheGovernorwiththe
adviceandconsentoftheSenate.
